Ever wondered why that concealer or powder hasn’t done much  to hide those stubborn facial blemishes no matter how much you apply?

The very aim of a concealer and powder cake combo is to achieve a flawless look. Anything less defeats the whole aim . And if you can still see some of those spots after all that powdering and foundation, then there’s something you just haven’t done right yet.

What are the blemishes you wish to hide whilst enhancing your natural complexion?

  • Black-heads
  • Scars
  • Freckles
  • Pimples
  • Hyper or Hypo pigmentation discolorations (caused by skin anomalies like: Tinea Versicolor)

What ever they may be , here’s how to fade them with makeup in 3 steps:

Step 1:

Ensure your face is clean, washed or well cleansed. Dry off and moisturize with your lotion or a foundation primer. If you have oily skin, you may well have to skip the moisturizing part.

Step 2:

Apply your foundation or concealer. Make sure that it is the exact color of your complexion. Use a good amount and smooth off evenly across your your face. If you have oily skin, use oil-free foundation for this step.

Step 3:

Use a compact cake powder that is two shades darker than your skin to tone off your face specially emphasizing on those blemishes and discolorations you wish to submerge. For instance if your correct powder hue; is color 3 then you will need to use a color 5  for this toning out procedure. 2 shades darker to be exact yet again!

You may also use this darker powder as a contouring layer by equally applying it on those areas you don’t want to call attention to. Like sleep eye bags  for instance…

Step 4:

Then you use a powder that is your exact skin tone for a final touch up. Loose powder works great but if you have the compact version, still works. A make up brush can be employed at this stage for that smooth, easy-breezy feel.

Then you can now use your cheek blusher and your other makeup components (eye shadow, mascara, lipstick and gloss et al) depending on what look you’d wish to create.
